Wolfhounds 22 - Rocky Gorge 27
May 4, 2025
The Hounds’ D3 team came agonizingly close to an unforgettable victory but fell short, losing 22-27 to Rocky Gorge (MD) in the final moments of a thrilling, physical match. Fresh off the D2 team's win, the D3 squad barely had time to catch their breath before the final kicked off, with Rocky Gorge coming in as a heavy favorite after an explosive 117-point win in their conference final. Despite facing the wind in the first half, the Hounds were prepared for a full 80-minute battle. Rocky Gorge opened the scoring early with a try in the corner, but the Hounds quickly responded with a try from Player of the Year Teddy Curtis, followed by another score from Jake Kaplan off a brilliant pass from Charlie Allen. However, Allen was forced off with a wrist injury, disrupting the Hounds' attack.
As the match progressed, the Hounds held a 19-5 lead, thanks to a try from Ryan Padden, but Rocky Gorge mounted a comeback with quick, well-executed tries and a penalty goal, closing the gap. The Hounds regained the lead 22-15 through a successful penalty by Billy Connors, but a controversial bounce and some defensive lapses allowed Rocky Gorge to score two more tries. Down by five with time running out, the Hounds pressed for a last-minute equalizer, but a yellow card to Padden and some scrummaging difficulties stifled their efforts. In the final seconds, a stolen ball in the breakdown sealed the Hounds’ fate, echoing the heartbreak of their 2023 NERFU semifinal. Though gutted by the loss, the D3 team can be immensely proud of their journey, with a young and talented group setting a high standard for the future. "A Club is only as good as its second side," and the Hounds’ D3 proved just how strong that side is.

Wolfhounds 53 - Wilks Barre 24
May 3, 2025
Riding the momentum from a dominant D2 victory, the Hounds’ D3 team delivered a spectacular performance in their semifinal, thrashing Wilkes-Barre 53-24. This remarkable win capped off the team’s impressive growth since going winless in 2022, and they entered the Atlantic Super Regional fully prepared after months of intense training with the D2 squad. Led by fiery Irishman Charlie Allen, who scored five tries and orchestrated the attack with precision, the Hounds were unstoppable. Billy Connors was flawless from the tee, while the pack—anchored by captain Anif McDonald and forwards Teddy Curtis and Jack “Moose” Fleming—dominated at the set piece, applying relentless pressure on their opponents.
The Hounds’ solid first-half performance, which saw them take a commanding 27-7 lead, was bolstered by sharp play from midfielders Nolan Joyce and Davis Kornblum, and excellent defensive work from wings Jake Kaplan and Gavin Loughnane. With the opposition worn out from playing into the wind, the Hounds capitalized on their sharp kicking game and depth, with reserves like Harry McBride, Ben Stone, and Ryan Padden making an immediate impact. As the final whistle blew, the D2 team stormed the field, celebrating the potential of sending two teams to the Final Four in Indianapolis and capping off a memorable weekend of rugby.
NERFU Final
Wolfhounds 39 - Albany 35
November 16, 2024
The Hounds D3 team defeated the #1 seed Albany, 39-33, in an exciting, excellent Cup Final. The win, launches them into the Atlantic Super Regional National Round of 16.
It’s a stunning turn of events for the D3 team. Reinstated in 2021 the D3 team has grown leaps and bounds. In that first year the goal was to just trot out a team for each week. And the first iteration only won 1 match - a forfeit. In year two the team snuck into the playoffs, narrowly losing to eventual champs Providence in the semifinal and ended with a 3-4 record. Last season, the team lost a heartbreaker to Charles River in the championship after going 6-4. This season, a 7-2 record and NERFU title, is the culmination of growth and commitment. And the lads are chomping for more!

Wolfhounds 29 - N. Shore 37
Sep 14, 2024
The Hounds’ D3 team came up short against a revamped and explosive North Shore side 29-37. Securing a bonus point with four tries, but narrowly missing a second losing bonus point. North Shore has added several new players to their ranks, including a former Free Jack, and their attack was dynamic and pushed the Hounds defensive width throughout the match.
